Scarlett Johansson Voted World’s Sexiest

Scarlett Johansson topped FHM’s poll of the sexiest women alive, and responded to the news by saying that she was flattered to be thought sexy. “One of the best things for a woman to hear is that she is sexy,” the 21-year-old actress, star of “Match Point” and “Lost in Translation,” said in a statement. “I’d like to thank FHM’s readers for the huge compliment.”
Angelina Jolie is No. 2 on the list, followed by Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Keira Knightley, Halle Berry, Jenny McCarthy, Maria Sharapova, Carmen Electra and Teri Hatcher. Johansson ranked ninth on last year’s list. Jolie was No. 1.
Among those who managed to get into the top 10 besides Scarlett Johansson and Angelina Jolie were big names like Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Keira Knightley, Halle Berry, Jenny McCarthy, Maria Sharapova, Carmen Electra and Teri Hatcher. Chief Scott Gramling, FHM’s U.S. Editor, said that Scarlett’s overall personality had wowed the readers, “It’s remarkable how Scarlett Johansson has caught the attention of our readers. Her sultry voice and striking beauty certainly have a lot to do with that, but so does the confidence she exudes. She seems to be one of those women who would be equally at ease on the red carpet as she would just hanging out with the guys.”

Tennis ace Maria Sharapova, former Baywatch babe Carmen Electra and Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher made up the top ten. Friends star Jennifer Aniston, pop sensation Jennifer Lopez and Pearl Harbour actress Jennifer Garner all made the top 100. Oscar-nominated Johansson has starred in a number of high profile movies, including Match Point, Lost in Translation, The Perfect Score, Home Alone 3 and The Island.
Scarlett Johansson was born in New York City. Her father, Karsten Johansson, was born in Denmark; her mother, Melanie Sloan, comes from a Bronx-bred Jewish American family. Johansson’s maternal ancestors originally came from Poland. The granddaughter of screenwriter and director Ejner Johansson and the sister of actress Vanessa Johansson and twin sister to actor Hunter Johansson, and non-actor older half-brother Christian, she graduated from The Professional Children’s School in Manhattan in 2002.
